Meditation on Enniscorthy is a recomposition of the traditional Irish melody The Wexford Carol for trumpet, winds, strings, piano, vibraphones/marimba, and optional propeller-aircraft drone. The familiar melody remains present throughout, but is reimagined within a slow, atmospheric sound world shaped by sustained resonance, layered instrumental color, and gradually evolving textures.
The propeller-aircraft drone is optional, but is included in the score because it formed part of the original commission. The work was commissioned by Rocket City New Music for a performance at Avilution, whose owner is a pilot and was able to participate in the performance by providing the live aircraft drone.
